Despite calls to the White House this week, the administration did not offer a guest for this weekend’s “Fox News Sunday” to talk about Dunn’s comments, although administration officials appeared on all four Sunday morning shows to speak on various issues.

“President Obama’s going to talk to all the networks,” said former Clinton adviser and administration confidant Terry McAuliffe, who appeared with Rove on Fox News. ”He’s going to go out there. He loves competition. He loves being engaged in the battle.”
These two statements don’t exactly line up, do they? (Yes, I realize that McAuliffe doesn’t actually ‘represent’ the White House.)

Whoever buys the business will have to settle some of its debts. While the Movieplex is relatively paid up on its utilities — only $82 in arrears — the city Treasurer’s Office hasn’t received payments from the city’s 1 percent rooms, meals and entertainment tax since April. The state Tax Department also placed a $51,972 lien on the movie theater for unpaid sales and use taxes.

Howard Dean, in his own words:
The reason tort reform is not in the [health care] bill is because the people who wrote it did not want to take on the trial lawyers in addition to everybody else they were taking on. And that’s the plain and simple truth,

Republican Senator from Maine, Olympia Snowe, has indicated that she will vote in favor of Max Baucus‘ health care bill.
Do I have any faithful readers in Maine who might be able to change her mind?

Found here. It claims not to be photoshopped, but anytime someone says that it isn’t photoshopped it had best be investigated. I am no expert in photoshop so I suppose I stand to be proven “wrong”.

The White House says more than 1 million jobs have been saved or created so far, a figure that is so murky it can never be verified.
If I had to choose one quote that summarized the story from this report it would be this one (emphasis added). If I had to choose one word, then it would be “murky”.
There is so much from this report that is worthy of a more careful analysis that I think I’ll make a second post with a more thorough analysis (not that I am an ‘expert’ analyst).

“What I think is fair to say about Fox — and certainly it’s the way we view it — is that it really is more a wing of the Republican Party,” said Anita Dunn, White House communications director, on CNN. “They take their talking points, put them on the air; take their opposition research, put them on the air. And that’s fine. But let’s not pretend they’re a news network the way CNN is.”
via White House Escalates War of Words With Fox News – Political News – FOXNews.com.
This entire article is worth reading, but the above quote kind of speaks for itself, don’t you think?
Anita Dunn cries, “They aren’t being nice to my boss!” Or at least, that’s what it should sound like.
Here are a few quotes from David Gergen,
The press always has the last barrel of ink.
Tony Blankley,
Going after a news organization, in my experience, is always a loser
and Nia Malika Henderson.
Obama’s only been a boon to their ratings and I don’t understand how this kind of escalation of rhetoric and kind of taking them on, one on one, would do anything other than escalate their ratings even more
But, if you trust the analysis of the Pew Research Center, here is the real story (emphasis mine):
a study by the Pew Research Center showed that 40 percent of Fox News stories on Obama in the last six weeks of the campaign were negative. Similarly, 40 percent of Fox News’ stories on Obama’s Republican opponent, Sen. John McCain, were negative.
On CNN, by contrast, there was a 22-point disparity in the percentage of negative stories on Obama (39 percent) and McCain (61 percent). The disparity was even greater at MSNBC, according to Pew, where just 14 percent of Obama stories were negative, compared to a whopping 73 percent of McCain stories — a spread of 59 points.
I’m partisan and I’ll admit it, so I would prefer to see positive stories about my team and negative stories about the other team. However, as a reporting organization it’s their job to cover all the stories and I (grudgingly) accept that. If you’re going to pride your organization on “fair and balance” it seems like (according to this study) Fox News has done an admirable job. I wish the same could be said of the other (so-called) news organizations.

Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Vermont is going to pick up the tab for H1N1 vaccinations.
A spokesman says the insurer will cover the cost for its members regardless of their benefit coverage. The company hopes that will entice more people to get the vaccination.
Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Vermont is the state’s largest health insurer, covering about 180-thousand Vermonters.

But insurance companies are evil!
Pop quiz: Why are they treating its customers to “free” H1N1 vaccine shots?
Answer A: This is just a nefarious plan by the evil insurance companies to gain sympathy for their case in defeating President Obama’s health care reform.
Answer B: This is just a dastardly plan by the evil insurance companies to inject its unsuspecting customers with a deadly vaccine.
Answer C: The actuaries at the insurance company believe that the cost of paying for the vaccines is less than the cost of paying for customers sick with the H1N1 flu.
