Vermont was one of many states that passed so-called eugenics laws in the 1920s and ’30s to try to prevent citizens labeled feeble-minded from having children.

Two times in this brief story what took place in the ’20s and ’30s is referred to as “so-called eugenics”.  As shameful as it is that these programs existed and were part of state laws, calling it “so-called” does little to expose the terrifying mind set behind the movement and that it targeted more than just “feeble-minded” citizens.
