The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. (Proverbs 1:7)

This is where my faith begins.  Everything that I believe about life is shaped by God and everything I believe about God I read in the Bible.  And the God in whom I believe is who the Bible says He is and my understanding of Him does not change who He is but only reveals my limited knowledge of Him.

I am no theologian, so I won’t attempt to stake out my position by borrowing from Luther, Calvin, the Catholic Church, or any current denominational creed.  I believe there is one God who has been revealed to us in the Holy Scriptures and to start from any other place, theologically speaking, is either a misguided attempt to shape God into what we want Him to be or a willful disdain for God as He has revealed Himself to us.

I don’t expect my musings on things religious, or spiritual, to have any great theological weight.  Nor do I expect them to be consistent.  I am not perfect and it seems reasonable to me that the more I learn about the one true God the more my positions, or beliefs, will be redirected to more closely reflect the type of person God wants me to be.
