Hobby Lobby went from an inoffensive business to a scofflaw and an alleged combatant in the “war on women” in no time at all — and without changing any significant employment or business practice. Thus is the transformation wrought by the coercive sweep of Obamacare, which risks doing as much damage to conscience rights as it has done to the insurance market.

Walk-A-Thon 2013

My children will be participating in the annual Rutland Area Christian School Walk-A-Thon next week and they are seeking donations/pledges to help them raise their goal or $1,000 to support the mission of the school. They have an outstanding team of teachers and staff who nurture all areas of their lives. Please consider supporting their education and the work of this great school.

Please click on the link above to fill out a form for a donation. Thank you!

The measure does not force a district to arm its teachers and would not force teachers to carry a gun.

My own playing? Well, it’s better than it was yesterday.

Creating pensions that offer generous retirement benefits wins votes in the present by promising spending in the future. Promises cost nothing in the short run — and elections are held in the short run, long before the pensions are due.

This thought occurred to me this morning: while using email, or another form of electronic communication, is there really a need for a P.S.?

It stands for post script, yes? Used when you forgot to include something in your original composition, or to add something that occurred since you finished your composition. Well, when you compose a letter using email there is no need to add this note at the end, is there? You can just go back and insert it wherever you want to in the “original” composition, thus ending the need for the P.S.

So long, Post Script. I will miss you.

P.S. I can’t do it!

Russia has more than 654,000 children not in parental custody. About 128,000 of them are eligible for adoption, most living in orphanages.

I am not familiar with adoption “statistics”, but those numbers are big.

Average spending for the federal budget as a percent of GDP from Eisenhower through Bush was 20.0%.  In its first year, the Obama administration blew out the budget to 25% of GDP.  That was when the Democrats controlled both Houses of Congress.  In order to lock in the 2009 level of spending, which included the allegedly temporary stimulus, the Senate has not passed a budget since April 2009, even though the Budget Act of 1974 requires it to do so every year (making Harry Reid a scofflaw).

The whole article is worth a gander.
